December to Remember: Red or Green!

Well, it's a fresh day and that means it's time to post another picture alongside our friends The Disney Sisters in their "December to Remember" photo campaign.

You may recall (if your short-term memory isn't too faulty) that yesterday's picture theme was "Tree". Well, they've come up with another fantastic one today that's just as Christmas-y; "Red or Green". Me being the obstinate fool that I am, have decided to go with both Red and Green!

One of our favorite attractions at Disneyland Park during The Holidays is the "it's a small world" Holiday attraction. I love it, my wife loves it, our boys love, and it's just an amazing switchover from the usual attraction that runs throughout the rest of the year. One of my favorite rooms in the entire attraction is the final room, and this picture I snagged a couple of years ago fit the bill for today's theme in a lot of ways. It has red, it has green, and it has an amazing message that we should all want to get behind in the world that we live in. Each and every year it's a sober reminder of just how far we've come, and how me farther we still have to go.

Luke 2:14

Well, that's today's! Hope that you liked it! Be sure and check back in tomorrow and we'll do our best to find something else just as good for everyone. Until next time!

Magical Mystery Mondays - Where At Disneyland Are We?

It's Monday!  One of our favorite days of the week because we get to challenge you.  Our Monday morning pictures have proven quite popular in the past, and we're still finding lots of spots at the Disneyland Resort we like and want to share, so we're just going to keep doing it!

Each and every week we spend at least one day at Disneyland, and each and every week we find at least one spot we like to share with our readers and offer you the chance to guess where we took the picture.  Some of them are easy, some of them are hard, but based on the number of people we have guessing on a weekly basis, people love playing guessing games.  It's a great way for us to get you involved and commenting on our blog more.

So, do you know where she took this picture?

If you think you know where it is, let us know! Leave us a comment here (probably the best way to do it), send us a Direct Message on our Twitter account @DaysInThePark, or drop us an email at daysinthepark@daysinthepark.com; that way your answer sort of remains hidden and more people get a chance to guess. We like to keep it going as long as we can and give everyone a shot.

We'll be back tomorrow morning to post up all the people who guessed correctly and give you the spot where this was taken. Have fun, don't take it too seriously, and let the guesses fly!

We're back with the solution to yesterday's challenge!

We had quite possibly the most guesses we've had yet yesterday, and they were almost unanimously correct!  Apparently we didn't make it quite hard enough this week.  We're only kidding!  It was great to have so many guesses coming in and it was great to constantly be telling people, "Yes, you're right!"

This week's shot can be found inside the Disney Animation Building in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot in Disney California Adventure Park; in particular, inside the "Sorcerer's Workshop" in the Animation Building.  The Workshop is split into three areas, and this hand can be found pointing the way out of Ursula's Grotto near the exit back into the building's main lobby.

We always like to throw a little shout-out to those who actually did get the correct answer.  Like we said, we had several correct guesses this week.  They were, in order of correct guess and by Twitter name:
  • iampumpkinqueen
  • Mrsthatcher26
  • AffairsbyAmy
  • FindingMickey
  • Vicki_Icesocks
  • Robinpoppins
  • Granuaille
  • Copy_Pixie
  • Chilebob
Awesome job this week, everyone!  We'll be back next week with another picture for you guys to take a crack at. In the meantime, if you have any spots that you know of that you would like for us to use, let us know! You can contact us and have us take a picture of your spot ourselves (and credit you with the idea, of course!), or feel free to drop us a line at daysinthepark@daysinthepark.com if you have a picture yourself you'd like for us to use.

Thanks for playing along with us! And always keep your peepers open for those "little details"; you never know what you might see.

Magical Mystery Mondays! - Where Are We?

It's Monday again!  One of our favorite days of the week for posting because we get to offer you a challenge and hopefully get some interaction going!

Each and every week we spend at least one day out at the Disneyland Resort, and each and every week we find at least one spot we like to share with our readers and offer you the chance to guess where we took the picture.  Some of them are easy, some of them are hard, but based on the number of people we have guessing on a weekly basis, people love playing guessing games.  It's a great way for us to get you involved and commenting on our blog more.

We also offer up a chance for you to submit your own pictures for us to use each and every week, and this past week, someone finally took us up on it!  One of our Twitter followers Michelle, aka "Harvickfan005", submitted a picture to us to challenge you guys with.  Many thanks to her for taking that extra step and participating with a picture of her own!

We like to keep it going as long as we can and give everyone a shot!

We're back with the solution to yesterday's challenge!

We had a few guesses from people yesterday, but not as many as we have been getting.  We're going to assume based on that fact that this was a pretty challenging picture to take a stab at!  Most people guessed Autopia in Tomorrowland, which makes complete sense based on the signs in the picture, but alas, this just wasn't correct.

This week's shot can be found inside Mickey's Toontown in one of the windows of the Five and Dime gift shop, which is right next to Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.  There are lots of great items for purchase in there, and it's one of our favorite places to hang out whenever we get inside Toontown.

We always like to throw a little shout-out to those who actually did get the correct answer.  We only had one person guess the exact* spot this week, but we're including everyone who got close.  You have to get them something for their sense of determination!  They were, in order of correct guess and by Twitter name:
  • Chilebob*
  • ChevyBurnz
  • Robinpoppins
Some good guesses this week! Many thanks again to Harvickfan005 for her submission this week.  We were only too happy to use it.

Disney Flashback Friday: The Days In The Park Kiddies

It's a Friday and that means it's a "Flashback" Friday with our friend Magical Days With The Mouse.  Lots of good Disney stories and photos to be read and seen there, so be sure to check them out.  In the meantime, while you're with us, read on!

If you read our blog on a regular basis (and you should!), you'll no doubt notice that in many of our posts, the roles of the children are portrayed by a bunch of grown-ups who, for the most part, refuse to act their age.  But that's not to say that our real kids don't play a huge role in our Park experiences.  In fact, the kiddies might just play a big role in future "Flashbacks", so consider yourself warned.

In today's pictures, Mark shares a time when he carried his niece "Tyana" all the way from The Park to the Mickey and Friends Parking Structure, asleep on his shoulders after a full day of fun capped off by fireworks.

And Chad shares a special memory of his son "MJ" (yes, the same son who's now 9 and was featured in this week's Wordless Wednesday), who was 3 at the time, at one of his favorite shows at that age, Playhouse Disney (now Disney Junior).

We hope that you've enjoyed "Flashing" with us today!  We really love these little articles and it's the perfect excuse to go back and relive some great memories, and share them with our readers.

Until next week, make every picture a "Flashback"-worthy one!

"Almost" Wordless Wednesday: 55MPH Napping!

Focused on the Magic

We're hopping alongside "Focused On The Magic" as is our new Wednesday tradition today.  Be sure and stop by to check out all the other blogs that are present to find some more great Park photos for your perusing amusement.

Consider us absolutely astounded that people continue to enjoy our napping photos!  But each and every week, we throw another one down and each and every week people continue to get a kick out of our antics.  I guess people can truly appreciate a good goof, so we're going to continue to do them for as long as you guys like!  Scary thing is, none of these are new; we've been doing these for years.  This week's was taken on California Screamin' in Paradise Pier at Disney California Adventure.  Get your nap on!

No idea what the two in front are doing, but they missing prime nap time

A Little (Disney) Joy Goes A Long Way

It's a Thursday so today we're blog hopping with Lisa from the Babes in Disneyland blog.  Today's topic is about Disney joy and some of our most joyful Park moments.  Talk about a wide open canopy!

Merriam-Webster defines joy as (among other things): A State of Happiness.  This is something we can really get behind!  For us, The Parks are full of joy.  Unfortunately, it can be a bit difficult to pin down particular moments of joy because there are so many of them!  But one of the greatest things about said joy is that it works in two different ways:

First, you feel joy while you're in the moment, as is evidenced by the Days In The Park kids.

Waiting for "A Christmas Fantasy" Parade - 2010

And second, you can feel joy well after the fact, as this picture of us with the Seven Dwarfs is still one of our favorite pictures ever and is still something we're talking about months later.

Days In The Park & The Seven Dwarfs - Character Fan Days - 2011

What about you? What are some of your favorite "moments of joy" inside The Parks? Care to share? Drop us a line because we'd love to hear from you!  And remember, the next time you're in The Parks take a moment, take a picture or two, and just enjoy the joy.  And while you're at it, take a few minutes to go back right now and look at some of your pictures from the past; we can almost guarantee that there's some joy in there just waiting to be rediscovered all over again.

"Almost" Wordless Wednesday: Naptime! 2.0

Last week's picture of Mark napping on Amy's spot outside of Off the Page in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot proved pretty popular (we got several comments on it), so we decided to bring it back for another round!  It got us to wondering if we had any other pictures in our files of Days In The Park napping around The Resort, and what do you know, we did!  Enjoy!

Mark's back for another week of napping on Dumbo...

...but there's nothing like the original. Look at Amy go!

It's no Dumbo, but Minnie's bed has a subtle uncomfortableness perfect for Chad

And nothing beats a nap after a long, hard day in The Park when you're a Days In The Park kid

Focused on the Magic

We're blog hopping along with "Focused On The Magic" and "The InfoMouse Blog" today and their Wordless Wednesday Blog Hops.  Come on by, link up, follow lots of other blogs and be followed back.  It's all great fun, with loads of great pictures.  Check it out and let them know we sent you!

KILT (Karacters I Love Thursday): Sully

This picture was taken quite some time ago, back before Chad even had three children.  We think it was sometime during the 50th Anniversary Celebration, but we're not entirely sure.

It's always good to go back and remember, though. This has always been one of our favorites and we're happy to share it with you now.

Enjoy!

"Almost" Wordless Wednesday:

Well, we do call this "almost" Wordless.  We've spent quite a bit of time the last couple of weeks just wandering The Parks and taking pictures.  These are some of the nearly 300 we took this past weekend.  We're only too happy to share.  Hope you enjoy them!

You can smell spring in the air

"Why, yes we are!"

"Yes, I'll have one diabetic coma, please."

Tale as old as time...

"Oh, I'm sorry.  Were you talking to me?"

KILT (Karacters I Love Thursday): Donald and Daisy; Western Style!

We took today's picture back during "Family Fun Weekends" (yes, we do still have some); Donald and Daisy were out in their country-western garb during "Kickin' Country Weekend".  Having a picture of both of them together at the same time is something that doesn't happen that often (at least in our experience), so we were really thankful for the opportunity.

Hope you guys like!

KILT (Karacters I Love Thursday): Halloween Time Goofy

We've spent quite a bit of time over the past week talking about one of our favorite characters in The Park, Goofy, but we realized we haven't posted a single picture of him yet.  He's completely missing from our "Karacter" gallery!  We felt it was high time to rectify that, and are doing so in today's post.

This is a picture of Goofy back during last year's Halloween Time.  Unfortunately, we weren't quite as quick on the draw as we are now (with the camera), and we missed getting a picture of him waving at us (he saw we were taking his picture).  He had turned back to his line by the time we snapped it off, but we were still glad to get a decent picture of him.

We really love the way that the characters come dressed differently oftentimes depending on the time of year it is, and this one is certainly no exception.

Enjoy!

KILT (Karacters I Love Thursday): Jasmine and Genie

We were lucky enough to catch Jasmine and Genie hanging around in Aladdin's Oasis as we were walking out of Adventureland one Sunday.  They might be out a lot more than we give them credit for, but we honestly haven't seen them since (not in this particular combo), so we were thankful for the opportunity to get the picture.

Jasmine poses for someone else while Genie poses for us!

"Almost" Wordless Wednesday: A Hotel And A Steakhouse

Sometimes, just sometimes, we take leave of our senses and wish we lived out of state (or weren't Annual Passholders) so we'd have a better reason to come and stay at one of The Resort Hotels.  One of the great things though, is that even though we don't stay at them, we can still experience much of the wonder that they have to offer.  We spent quite a bit of time this past Sunday in the Disneyland Hotel and took pictures of many of the things we got to see and experience.  These are just a few of them.

Enjoy!

Yeah, it was THAT good...

Do we need to say anything?

Cartoon room where we watched some classic Disney Toons with Goofy (he was on a break)

REALLY enjoyed some of the angles in this picture

You note while Chad is taking pictures for the site Mark is playing around with an Autopia car

The Wall Of Fame (and lots of Disneyana)!

Mickey and Minnie flank this awesome mural in the Hotel lobby

Tink came out a little blurry, but we really liked this one

Goodnight!
