Chilling with Red during the 2011 D23 Expo's Cars Land preview and yes, he's the exact same one in Cars Land now!
One of the reasons I've been posting the releases is because I know a lot of my readers will more than likely be headed to Anaheim for said Expo (and a trip to Disneyland to boot!), but I did have a secondary reason, and this is the one I'm most excited about:
Days in the Park is going to the D23 Expo!
Now, I did go to the 2011 Expo as well. Heck, you can see the picture of me there right at the top of the page, so you might be wondering why I'm making such a big deal about going again this year. Did it really need its own post?
Darn tootin' it did, because this year I'm not going as a spectator, I'm going as an official member of the media with my own press credential and everything. That's right, this year I'm working the Expo, baby!
When I first started Days in the Park, I really just wrote for my own fun and amusement, and I always said that if opportunities were presented to me, I'd take them, but I wasn't going to go on the hunt for them per se. About a year or so ago, I mystically (because I hadn't pursued it per my policy) wound up on the D23 Press mailing list, so I started getting invites to all kinds of cool stuff, but nothing I could participate in due to timing and real life daddy duties getting in the way. But this year I was truly pleased when they sent me an application to apply for a credential. After some (but not much!) thought I decided to go for it, and I've been approved for all three days. I know a lot of blogs and other press people will be there, but this one is actually extra special to me, because it's the first time I'll be doing media as myself and my own blog. That's a big deal to me! I've done media events before, but always for someone else's blog or site, and never my own, and for once, that's going to change!
So over the next couple of days expect me to let you in more on just what I plan to cover while I'm at the Expo. I have my app downloaded, I'm going over my schedules to pick and choose what I want, and I'm looking forward to sharing my Expo experience with you as a blog, and not just as a spectator. Will there be any difference? Maybe not cosmetically, but I can't help but be just a little bit proud that my blog has become enough to be allowed to have such a wonderful opportunity.
I hope that you'll come along with me for the ride!
