Bring on Day One! - D23 Expo Coverage

Well, the day is almost here! In just a little over a day, the floodgates will open at the Anaheim Convention Center will open and Disney-philes from all over the country (heck, the world!) will pile in for three days full of nothing but Disney exhibits, Disney presentations, Disney stars, Disney Legends... well, you get the idea.

As I said yesterday this year I have the amazing opportunity to attend the Expo as a member of the media; representing Days in the Park at something like this is something I always dreamed would happen, and now it's almost upon me! So, I thought it might be nice over the next couple of days to let my readers in on just what I planned to cover and see over the next few days, because once I attain my credential Friday morning, I'm going to be going full bore for the rest of the weekend, and I am, quite frankly, going to be hard to reach in that time. But what I am promising my readers is a constant update via Twitter (@daysinthepark) for everything that I can, and write-ups as soon as I can get them to you.

One of the things I think is so awesome about the Expo is that there is just so much to see and do! There's just no way to do it all, but the cool thing is you don't have to! There's more than enough and something for everyone, so even when you do have "down time", if you want to call it that, and there aren't any presentations going on that you want to see, there are plenty of booths and sponsors and products to check out that will keep you busy. And I plan on going over all the ones I personally want to see over the next couple of days in a series of articles, starting with tonight's.

Tonight, I thought I would begin the process of letting you all in on what I plan to attend presentation at the Expo. There's a lot to choose from, and more than enough to keep me busy, but little enough to let me wander at my leisure, and that's just how I like it! The D23 Expo App (available on both iOS and DROID) has been a lifesaver in that regard, as it's allowed me to look over each day individually, note the times the presentations have been going on, and press a cute little Mickey head which saves my schedule exactly the way I want it. Vunderbar!

All that said, Friday is looking a little something like this:

As you can see, Friday is a pretty light day so far. It's a possibility that I will go to a presentation in the arena later during the evening highlighting Disney on Broadway, but as of now my plans are to go into The Parks to attend some meet and greets with some fellow bloggers and podcasters, and to hang out with my East Coast Disney family, some of whom I haven't seen since 2011's Expo!

I have to be at the Convention Center bright and early to check in and get my credential, and I definitely want to catch the opening ceremony at the Disney Store to get the entire day started off the right way. Then it's off to my first line to check in at the "Art and Imagination: Animation at the Walt Disney Studios" presentation to hear all about Disney's upcoming animated projects from Mr. John Lasseter himself. Unfortunately, cameras and phones have to be checked before entering, but you can bet I'll be taking notes of all the new features coming out, and all the stars and any filmmakers who might be in attendance. Lastly, I'll be off to see the "Gravity Falls Stars" panel and hopefully meet, picture, interview, etc. everyone I can from this absolutely fantastic Disney Channel cartoon. If you haven't seen it yet, you definitely should! It's well written, witty, and very humorous; a favorite of our family. As for the "Lab Rats Stars" panel... well, that's still in question. I say no, but my children say yes. As for the rest of my day, I plan on wandering the exhibit hall and taking lots of pictures, notes, and talking to anyone and everyone I can for you guys.

I'll be back tomorrow morning to share a little bit about my schedules for Saturday and Sunday, and get you ready for the events I'm most looking forward to on those days.

Check back in, and the planning is ongoing! It's going to be a magical weekend!
