Odds And Ends: Weekly Cap-Off (9/27 - 10/3)

Visits to the Park this week:  0

Yes, yes, yes; as hard as it may be to believe, we laid a big fat egg in the Visits department this week.  But with no less than 4 trips on the schedule in the next couple of weeks, we're just going to have to manage somehow.

There wasn't anything huge to report this week, unlike last week.  With the absence of a press conference and a D23 event, it was pretty much business as usual.

Perhaps the largest news to report involves the ever-growing demolition of our beloved California Adventure.  The changes seem endless.

Just a few include:
  • The Sunshine Plaza murals are boarded up and coming down
  • ElecTRONica (and Flynn's Arcade), in honor of TRON: Legacy continues to move towards its October 8 opening
  • The Bountiful Valley Farm area has been torn down to ready the entrance to Cars Land
  • The Little Mermaid continues to be readied for its 2011 release
  • Burger Invasion, Pizza Oom Mow Mow and The Maliboomer are walled up (the Maliboomer is coming down) to make way for the new re-themed garden and dining area
  • and in perhaps the greatest miscarriage of justice seen since the Nixon Administration, Catch-a-Flave (perhaps the greatest soft serve joint of all time) has been unilaterally renamed, and without asking us no less, the Paradise Pier Ice Cream Co.  Seriously?!  How long did it take you to come up with that one?!
We plan on surveying the "damage" later this week, so hopefully we'll have pictures for those who have been asking for them.

Meantime, here's what's on tap for DITP this week:
  • 2 more attraction perspectives coming this week.  Barring some catastrophic breakdown in production (which we will neither confirm nor deny, much like a cast member when Ghost Galaxy breaks down) we plan on writing and posting perspectives on both "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror" and "Haunted Mansion Holiday".
  • We plan on rotating in as many as 3 new categories of posts; our First Timer posts (yes, there are things we still have not done and experienced in the Parks), some Top 5 lists, and we begin our journey down the Vinylmation Highway this week.  Wish us luck!
  • Loads more pictures for our HalloweenTime posts.  We're going to inundate you with them.  You'll hate us, but it'll be fun!
We continue to move forward with lots of ideas and plans, and we're still looking at beginning a monthly giveaway.  So stay tuned for that!

We've picked up a few followers (blog and twitter) this week, and we'd like to welcome all of you guys.  We hope you find what we do both entertaining and informative.  We hope you'll stick around; and tell your friends about us, too!

And another week begins...
