A Belated Introduction To Days In The Park

One of the hardest things to do when beginning a blog is to see into the future.  Well, okay, it's pretty hard to do that about anything.  But when you first decide to blog, and put your thoughts out there for the world to see, it really is difficult to even begin to fathom where it's going to take you.

Days In The Park really began quite simply enough.  Mark and I have known each other for a long time.  I have quite a few years on him, but over the years we've developed a pretty good friendship.  We had both been going to Disneyland for a while with our families, and occasionally with each other (when I wanted to go and had no-one else to go with), and we just happened to both mention in casual conversation one day that we'd like to blog about Disneyland.  Boom.  This website was born.

When we first started thinking about things, we really wanted the blog to be ours in terms of credit.  We both wrote, we both had ideas, so pretty much everything was posted under that generic "Posted by Days In The Park" banner.  What we didn't understand, or foresee, was just how much we'd be able to network in such a short time.  We're by no means breaking new ground here, but the fact remains that in a short period of time, we've gained a few steady readers, and met some people who actually wanted to hang out with us at The Park.  Perish the thought!  I don't know what we were imagining might happen, but it wasn't that.

We realized last night while hanging out with one such friend that we've done a pretty poor job of telling you exactly who is who around here, and what our roles are.  But it's quite simple, really, and hopefully it'll help us avoid any "Which one are you?" questions in the future.  Not that we mind answering them, but it seemed more fair to just tell you.

Chad Elliott (that's me!) is a co-founder of Days In The Park alongside Mark Treiger.  We're both co-bloggers here.  We both come up with ideas, and we both write.  The only difference where I am concerned is that I'm the editor.  Just a fancy way of saying I proofread everything before it gets posted, check for spelling and grammar issues, and make sure everything flows nicely.  Such a glamorous life!  I also moderate and reply to the comments you guys are nice enough to submit to us here.

Outside the website itself, I run our Twitter account (if you're talking to us there, you're talking to Chad) and Mark is in charge of maintaining our Facebook Page (if you're talking to us there, you're talking to Mark) which we've just gotten up and running and he's doing a great job with that!

All that said, most posts will continue to fly with the "Posted by Days In The Park" banner, but if there are posts where our names are used (such as this one) we figured it might be nice to know just who wrote the article, so those will now say "Posted by whoever posted the article".

So there you have it.  That's us.  We'll post some pictures of ourselves in our "Who Is DITP?" page (right at the top of the page you're looking at now!) so you'll know who's who.  It'll be real easy at The Park, though.  Mark has a good 5 or 6 inches on me.

Now, let's get back to the fun, shall we?

I know, right? LOL

If there hadn't been a couple of instances of confusion over the past couple of days, none of this would have been necessary! ;P
