Odds and Ends: Weekly Cap-Off (3/14 - 3/20)

Visits to the Park this week:  0
It's been a while since we went "0 For".  We plan on going several times this week, though, to make up for it!

Last Week on Days In The Park:
On Monday  we introduced a new segment entitled "Where Can You Find?" Mondays aimed at introducing some of the cooler (at least by our standards) touches littered all over The Parks that people might sometimes miss

Tuesday, we gave you the lowdown on a very special Gowalla Trip we created just for you!

For our "Almost" Wordless Wednesday, we spent some time in the Disneyland Hotel

We took you inside Aladdin's Oasis to meet Jasmine and Genie for our weekly KILT post on Thursday

Friday, we gave you one of Chad and Amy's Favorite Things as we highlighted the greatest sour treats ever, Goofy's Sour Balls

And finally, on Saturday, we slowed down and talked about a lesson we recently learned while watching some cartoons with Goofy at the Disneyland Hotel

At the Resort:
Lots of things beginning to happen at The Resort; mostly likely as a result of the fact that Spring is here!  As we slowly tick down the time between now and summer, we're going to have all kinds of exciting things going on around The Parks!

Some of this week's stories of note (and bear in mind these are the ones that tickled our fancy the most; we're sure others have more important things to worry about):
  • Construction continues all around The Parks.  Changes can be seen all over now at places like the entrance to Disney California Adventure (we can't wait for the new entrance!), The Little Mermaid:  Ariel's Undersea Adventure, Cars Land and more!  If you're going into The Parks at all, be sure and take some time to just stroll around and check it all out.  We're constantly amazed not only at how quickly all of these projects seem to be happening, but at the quality of work involved.
  • The Hungry Bear Restaurant has re-openedCritter Country continues to open up in bits and pieces and one of our standby restaurants re-opened this week to a brand new menu!  It was always one of our favorite spots to grab a hamburger and just sit and watch the Rivers of America go by, but now that they've added a new Angus 1/3 pound Chili-Cheeseburger to to the options, it's a must that we go back, and soon!
  • Disneyland Park announced this week that it will begin showing (on March 25th) a brand new, exclusive 3-D Sneak Peek of the new "Pirates of the Caribbean:  On Stranger Tides" movie inside the Festival Arena.  Showings will begin running on March 25th and continue through May 30th (on weekends), and nightly beginning April 15 and running through May 1.  We think this is a great idea!  We can only assume one of the reasons they are doing this is because of the popularity of the "Tron: Legacy" Sneak Peek that has been going on during "ElecTRONica" at Disney California Adventure the last few months.  Maybe they really were listening to our answers on the little surveys they took after we walked out of that one.  We're really excited about this!
And a very happy birthday this week to Pirates of the Caribbean!  44 years old this week and still going strong!  Here's a little retrospective from the Disney Parks Blog this week from way back in the beginning, but it's tons of fun to watch.  Definitely going to have to give this one a ride the next time we're in The Park and yell out a hearty "Happy Birthday" and a "Yo Ho Ho!"

Here At Days In The Park:
People seemed to enjoy our little "Where Am I?" segment last week, so we plan on continuing to do that (for fun) for the foreseeable future, although we have a new name for it now!  We'll be breaking that out tomorrow!  We'll also continue to throw some pictures out for our "Almost" Wordless Wednesday and KILT posts just like we always do.

Then of course, we'll have some other new stuff that we just can't tell you about, mainly because we won't know ourselves until we sit down and begin writing.

Next Sunday we begin work on Episode 2 of our Days In The ParkCast - our monthly podcast.  So you can start looking forward to that coming to you sometime around the beginning of April, hopefully.  Now that we kind of know what we're doing, we're excited to begin work on another and hope you'll give it a listen when we get it out.

Hope you'll keep dropping by to spend a virtual Day In The Park with us.  We enjoy having you around!
