Odds and Ends: Weekly Cap-Off (2/21 - 2/27)

Visits to the Park this week:  2
Hooray for multiple visits!  All is right with the world!

Chad was able to take the entire family out for an evening of fun and frivolity on Thursday evening (even Amy came along) and we're back this afternoon (after recording our podcast) for an entire afternoon and evening of Park shenanigans.  Hopefully all the fun will show up in our writing some this week; we can almost bet that it will.

Last Week on Days In The Park:
On Monday  we took a slight detour and headed over to our new website where we're prepping for our first podcast

Tuesday, we posted some "little detail" photos from our latest trip into The Park

For our "Almost" Wordless Wednesday, we smiled like a bunch of goobers outside of Club 33 while we waited to be seated for our dinner

We took part in Lisa's (from Babes In Disneyland) Blog Hop on Thursday with a post about Chad's humble Disney beginnings

Friday, we pretended it was Thursday with another KILT character; this week's guest stars were King Louie & Baloo

And finally, on Saturday, we wrapped up our Saturday Slow-Down articles with a visit to the Character Close-Up room in the Disney Animation Building

At the Resort:
As we've noted for the last few weeks, on weekends between January 14 and March 6, The Park has been/is hosting what it has dubbed "Family Fun Weekends"; five new and unique experiences meant to draw families into The Park.  This weekend was the second of three weekends celebrating "Mardi Gras" at The Park, which is featuring (much like previous weeks) shows, a street party, interactive entertainment, and character meet and greets (featuring the Princess and the Frog gang as well as the standards).  "Mardi Gras" weekends has moved out of the Festival Arena in Big Thunder Ranch and is instead being held in New Orleans Square from 11:00am to 5pm, Fridays through Sundays.  For more information on this and future weekends, check out the Disney Parks Blog.

There were a few announcements this week that had us at Days In The Park buzzing right along with the rest of the Park fans regarding preparations for some of the awesome summer openings and happenings at The Resort.  According to the Disney Parks Blog, dates have finally been set for three coming attractions.

First, a May 27 date has been set for the premiere of Mickey's Soundsational Parade.  We do enjoy the Park parades (very much so) and the lack of any since the Holiday season has left something missing.  We're excited to see the new one!  Here's sneak peek at some of the preparations that are going into it:

Also, dates have been officially set now for the openings of The Little Mermaid:  Ariel's Undersea Adventure and Star Tours:  The Adventures Continue; both will open on June 3rd, so save your place in line now!  We're excited for both of these and can't wait.  The construction on both is moving full speed ahead and we're hoping to try and get some pictures of both up this week.  We can't wait to see it for ourselves.

Here At Days In The Park:
This week should be pretty big for us.  We have an entirely new site set up for our podcasting endeavors, DaysInTheParkCast.com, and we'll be recording our first episode this afternoon.  It may take a few days to edit and get it sounding like we want it to, but we're kind of excited about it and hope everyone will give it a listen when it launches.

Mark and Amy will be around this week with some posts of their own, and of course, there's always "Almost" Wordless Wednesdays and KILT (which we might actually do on Thursday this week) to look forward to.
