Odds and Ends: Weekly Cap-Off (2/14 - 2/20)

Visits to the Park this week:  2
Back to multiple visits.  We've missed you so!

We were able to spend a few hours in The Park (Chad & Amy) on Friday morning strolling around with Chad's youngest, Lucas, riding some attractions and spending a substantial amount of time in Mickey's Toon Town.  Lucas apparently has a huge affinity for character photos (who knew?!) so we went from house to house meeting almost everyone who was around.  Good times!

The whole gang (Chad, Mark and Amy) are back in The Park this afternoon for a very special evening out.  We probably won't get back until the early morning hours, so be sure and follow us on Twitter so you can keep up with all of the shenanigans.

Last Week on Days In The Park:
On Monday  we spent some time enjoying Happy Lunar New Year Festival during The Park's Family Fun Weekends

Tuesday, we gave a report on our DLRNetwork's first tweet-up!

For our "Almost" Wordless Wednesday, we watched Michael make a goof of himself (not very hard to do) on Tom Sawyer Island

We added another KILT (Karacters I Love Thursday) character as we hung with Clarabelle Cow and Horace Horsecollar  on Thursday

Friday, we walked in the tulips for another Amy's Favorite Things

And finally, on Saturday, we went on another "Adventure In Vinyl" with Mark as he wrapped up his first complete Vinylmation collection, Muppet Series #1

At the Resort:
As we've noted for the last few weeks, on weekends between January 14 and March 6, The Park has been/is hosting what it has dubbed "Family Fun Weekends"; five new and unique experiences meant to draw families into The Park.  This weekend is the first of three weekends celebrating "Mardi Gras" at The Park, which is featuring (much like previous weeks) shows, a street party, interactive entertainment, and character meet and greets (featuring the Princess and the Frog gang as well as the standards).  "Mardi Gras" weekends will be moved out of the Festival Arena in Big Thunder Ranch and will instead be held in New Orleans Square from 11:00am to 5pm, Fridays through Sundays.  For more information on this and future weekends, check out the Disney Parks Blog.

There wasn't a lot of news happening in The Parks this week, but a couple of quick announcements about coming (and continuing) attractions.  The new Disney Junior show which is replacing Playhouse Disney in the Hollywood Backlot in Disney California Adventure begins officially on March 25th.

Also, ElecTRONica has proven so popular that it has been extended through the end of summer and Labor Day.  Looks like we'll have plenty more opportunity to chill out on The Grid and play some classic games at Flynn's Arcade.  You can find out about both on the Disney Parks Blog.  Awesome!

Here At Days In The Park:
It's going to be a pretty cool week around here!

As mentioned up top, we're spending a pretty special evening in The Park tonight.  Park fans can probably formulate a few good guesses as to just what we're up to, but we won't spoil the surprise until later this evening in "tweet" form.  Needless to say, we'll certainly be writing about our evening at some point this week.

Also, we have a pretty big announcement coming this week about a little side project we've been working on.  Won't say any more than that, but expect a little "detour" of sorts at some point this week.  Monday hopefully, but we'll have to see.

Oh, and we realize we haven't wrapped up the Disney Animation Building set of "Saturday Slow-Down" posts; we haven't been able to get back into DCA to do what we've needed to for that yet, but it's coming.

And, of course, there's always "Almost" Wordless Wednesdays and KILT to look forward to.

Tomorrow is President's Day.  In honor of that, we thought you'd like to take a moment to check out this cool video detailing some of the Imagineering work on Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln.  And if you get a free moment, why not take a trip out to The Park and watch the show?  You can never be disappointed with this one if you're American and have a pulse.

Enjoy!
