A Stroll With DITP: ElecTRONica

While we're usually not huge fans of blogging twice in one day, we figured we should try and lighten the somber mood that might have been produced by our last Stroll.  

We did spend some time as well last Friday in the Hollywood Backlot, checking out the new ElecTRONica setup, and what we saw left us wanting more!

Unfortunately, due to other commitments, we weren't able to be there for the actual opening of ElecTRONica.  We really can't wait to get out there and get in the middle of it all, though.  

We're not really into music and dancing (perish the thought!), but we are stoked to get out there and take a look at the 3D sneak-peek of TRON: Legacy and play some games in Flynn's.

A Stroll With DITP: Disney's California Adventure

Strolling through Disney's California Adventure is a bag of mixed feelings right now.  

While we consider ourselves geeky (we love the latest and greatest), we couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness last Friday as we got our first look at all the construction taking place in DCA.  

After all, some of my own family's earliest trips to the Disneyland Resort, and our happiest memories, took place in the California Adventure that was, and not in what it will become.

The murals are almost gone now

Walls are up in many places now, covering up the many construction zones

Gone are The Farmer's area, PT Fleas, and those "noise-makers" my kids loved so much

Work continues on the Little Mermaid ride.  It's been fun watching this go up!

The landscape of Paradise Pier is changing

In spite of all the changes, though, the memories we made will still exist.  They're not going anywhere.  

And we try to bear in mind that Walt's vision was for A Park that was ever-changing, bringing something new and fresh on a regular basis.

We'll miss the old, but we're anxious now that the changes are coming to begin making memories in the new.

Farewell, Maliboomer.  I'm sorry we never officially met.
