Today, we continue our FastPass lessons along the same lines of thought with another suggestion on ways to pace yourself; "Leave Some For Later."
We don't often do it, but when we're actually brave enough to drop little nuggets to others about the things in The Parks that we still have not done, people give us amazed looks, usually followed with "You haven't done <insert Disneyland Resort item here>? And you call yourselves Disneyland fans?"
We're not really sure at what point it became a sign of your "fan"aticism to have done everything there is to do at The Parks, but apparently that is the standard many people think we need to adhere to. Not all, but many.
But we enjoy challenging that line of thought (if it is indeed your feeling) with our own mantra of always leaving something for later. What many people don't get, or find hard to believe, is that it is a calculated notion and move on our part. We don't want to do everything all at once. We enjoy leaving more for the next visit. After having been Annual Passholders for years at this point, there are still oodles of things we haven't done. Attractions we've not experienced. Delicacies we've yet to try. Restaurants we've never dined at.
But that's okay, because that's how we like it. We enjoy knowing that the next time we go, there's that chance we're going to experience or do something we never have before. We might not, but we live in anticipation for the chance that we do. It's one of the ways that we allow ourselves an extra opportunity to keep the magic alive. Don't get us wrong, The Park does a great job of that, but we like to give it a little help of our own.
We've been wanting to start a "First Timer" segment on our blog for a while now, and this presents an excellent segue into that, and a perfect example of our mantra of "leaving things undone" all in one shot.
You see, until quite recently, just about a month ago in fact, Days In The Park had never experienced that seminal dessert of Disney lore, the Pineapple Dole Whip. Do we need to give you time to inhale and scream out "What?!?" before continuing?
But it's quite true. We, of course, had long since heard of said delicious Whips, but we just hadn't bothered to brave the long lines to wait for one. But once we began blogging, and hearing more and more about the yummy goodness that makes up The Whip, we began to look for our opportunity. It still took us about a month, but while wandering around Adventureland one morning we espied the Dole Whip stand with nary a person in line. Opportunity, consider yourself seized!

Other than a slight mishap (when Chad ordered the wrong item to begin with) it was a life altering moment. Choruses of angels in Heaven began singing "Allelujah"s. Birds chirped. A rainbow was espied over Sleeping Beauty Castle. And once we had picked ourselves up off of the ground (where the Flavor Train had knocked us) we figured out just what everyone had been talking about for so long. Another bit of magic (the magic of pineapple juice and soft-serve in one yummy cup) could now be added to our list. We could happily (and hungrily) now add something to our routine. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely. Glad we postponed as long as we did? Absolutely.

What about you? Are you a "all or nothing" person, or are you willing to hold off on doing things in an effort to keep the magic alive and going on at The Park? Is there anything you want to do at The Parks that it just hasn't seemed like the "right time" to do yet? We'd love to hear from you. And we look forward to showing you some more of our "First Time" experiences in the months to come.
Now, off to the Enchanted Tiki Room to make up for lost time.

We love discovering the things we haven't done or tried at WDW. We plan on having a Dole whip for the first time on our December trip too!
Yay! We're sure that you'll love them! :) It's one of the things we love about Disney; there's always something new to discover or try.
Yes, it is NOT a Disneyland trip without at least one or two Dole Whip floats. And best of all, you can always finish it during the show, so you can take your time.
It is also NOT a Disneyland trip without a skewer from Bengal BBQ in Adventureland, savoured in Aladdin's Oasis.
And while I'm on about must eat food, if you call the Disneyland Tour booking line exactly 1 month before your trip at the moment they open, you stand a good chance of reserving Fantasmic Seating, your own set apart pre-reserved PLACE TO SIT with a perfect view of the show, and often a good view of the fireworks after. You also get unlimited bevrages and a tray of fruit, cheese, and pastries. The hot chocolate is the best on the planet, spiced with vanilla and cinnamon.

PS I don't have any of the ID sources Blogger uses. Is this the middle ages? Are they still people who don't use Facebook?
Yup! Just the way we like to have em, Larry, DURING the show so we can take our time :)
Never had the Bengal BBQ; it may be the ONLY place I haven't eaten. Most of my friends aren't big fans so I don't have the chance very often.
Yeah, I definitely know all about the Fantasmic! seating. I know friends who have done it. But, typically we're seasonal with the shows. We like to watch the 10:30 show in January and February - you can typically walk right up and sit down front that time of the year.
Thanks for stopping by! I'm considering using Disqus for my comments from now on, but I haven't installed it yet.
