We also get asked a lot what Vinylmation are when we mention them. We've discovered that even people who go into The Park a lot really don't pay much attention to them, or what they're called anyways, but they seem to have all seen those "little hard plastic Mickey Mouses painted like different characters" when we describe them to people. We figured since people seem to be familiar with the little plastic Mickeys, it only made sense to feature some of the ones that are actually painted like Mickey over the next few weeks, since they are some of our favorite Vinylmation from our collection.
He's licking his chops. Must be hungry.
Today's is one of our favorites, and was sold only as a combo-topper (part of a two-figure set) in The Park 6 Series: Runaway Brain Mickey. The Runaway Brain Vinyl is based on a Mickey Mouse cartoon, called "Runaway Brain" of course, which was produced in 1995 by Walt Disney Feature Animation Paris and originally packaged with the theatrical release of "A Kid In King Arthur's Court". In it, we find Mickey trying to make money to pay for a Hawaiian vacation with Minnie, but as usual, things don't quite go the way intended. He winds up being a part of a "brain-switch" in an evil scientist's experiment with a huge behemoth of a monster looking very much like Pete, and this crazed look is the result.
There's been an increased interest in what we've dubbed around here, "Troublemaker Mickey", in recent months, especially with the release of the "Epic Mickey" video game around Christmas, which makes this one of our favorite pieces we've collected and very popular with many people. Mickey hasn't always been what one might call a "jolly good fellow", and "Runaway Brain" was a fantastic cartoon and an excellent inspiration for this particular Vinyl, and we think it does a fantastic job of showing off the "darker side" of The Mouse.
We liked the detail on his back; even his tail is frayed.
So let us know what you think of this piece! Yay or Nay? Do you enjoy seeing Mickey a bit "out of his element", or is it just a bit too creepy? We'd love to hear from you so drop us a comment and let us know!

I love the Runaway Brain Mickey!! That is adorable! Vinylmations are so much to collect:)
Thanks Deb; one of our favorites!
We love our Vinyl! :)
That is a very interesting Mickey, I don't like it. I don't like seeing Mickey like that. It is a little too scary for me. I want to see Mickey in a cute face..
I'm diggin' it... ;-)
oooh I love that one!
Thanks for stopping by all the same Diane! Yeah, we're sure he's not for everyone but it's actually a pretty entertaining cartoon and it's the last theatrical short that Mickey has been in up to this point.
Still think he was post-worthy, but we know a lot of people don't like to see Mickey all crazed, but we figured why not? :)
Glad you liked it, Bird. ;)
Thanks very much Casey. Glad you enjoyed it :)
I love Runaway Brain Mickey. He's actually the first Vinyl I purchased. My friend gave me a Rex to start off but I bought this one to officially launch my collection. I'm sad that I had just missed the Sorcerer Mickey topper. He's my favorite version of Mickey. Anyway, I love seeing characters of my youth portrayed in a darker sense. There's enough happy going around the enterprise that a little darkness is needed for balance. Plus, it might be a guy thing. haha. We need a little darkness to support our loyalty to Disney. Not very manly to like such happy go lucky things, now is it? haha. Speaking for myself here, of course. Anyway, I'd like to see Disney venture off into the dark territory more often. Not everything has to be so family friendly. Thank goodness for villains.
I like it. But I also like creepy. Not sure what that says about me. :o)
I like it! I think it's funny...then again I am known for a slightly wacky sense of humor :). I can also see tweens and up being really into this character (right in line with all the vampire/monster themes running rampant out there). Off to check out your podcast!
Thanks for the comment, Mr. Mutant. We agree on ALL points. Sometimes you need to balance it all out, so thank goodness for the villains. And we LOVE that Mickey has a darker side. Don't we all? ;)
Thanks Melissa! Says you have a darker sense of humor, and that's FINE with us! :)
Thanks Mommy Mouse!:) As long as he doesn't sparkle we're fine ;)
And thanks for checking out our podcast. Let us know what you think! :)
I love it! I saw a figure of Runaway Mickey at Dlp and thought it was really cool! Even if it is a little scary :P Awesome all the same! :)
Thanks Manda; really glad you like it! The more we look at it, the more we love it! :)
Awesome and scary all at the same time! :)
