Visits to the Park this week: 1
Wow! We're finally getting to spend another day out at The Park. It's been so long, there's just no telling what we're getting ourselves into we as we write this!
Rest assured though, you will no doubt be hearing about it in the coming weeks.
Last Week on Days In The Park:
On Monday we wished everyone a "Happy New Year" and gave out some details about an upcoming Tweet-Up we'll be having at The Park
Tuesday, we looked at our Year In Review (short as it may have been)
For our "Almost" Wordless Wednesday, we looked at a blast from our past and one of our children enjoying the 50th Anniversary Celebration in a suitcase
We introduced our new KILT (Karacters I Love Thursday) segment on Thursday
Friday, we resumed our Adventures In Vinyl segments with our December Edition
And finally on Saturday we got around to posting our obligatory take on the letters in front of Disney California Adventure coming down at last
At the Resort:
Arguably the biggest newsworthy item of the week, which we have discussed, was the removal of the letters in front of Disney California Adventure as The Parks begin to prepare to install the new look in the entrance area.
We haven't been since they've been removed (though we've seen pictures) so we're anxious to get out and see for ourselves, strange as it might seem since there's actually nothing there. Word is, though, that a very "special" Disney character makes an appearance on the surrounding construction walls. We'll talk more about him this week.
One other item of note came in the form of a video on the Disney Parks Blog on Wednesday coinciding with the announcement of the So-Cal Residents "2-Day-For-$99" tickets. Between January 14 and March 6, The Park will be hosting what it has dubbed "Family Fun Weekends"; five new and unique experiences meant to draw families into The Park.
The video includes quick references to all of them, but on January 7 the blog announced the first of the five in the form of "Character Fan Days" which will run the weekend of January 28-30. For the first time ever, fans are being given a choice as to which seldom seen and rare characters they would like to enjoy seeing roaming The Park that weekend. Some of the choices include: the Seven Dwarfs, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Clarabelle Cow and the Country Bears. For more information on this (and the other characters included) and how to vote, check out the Disney Parks Blog's "You Decide" post. The last time we checked, it appeared that The Seven Dwarfs were winning (and big time!), but we're personally pulling for the Country Bears, so get out there and vote people!
Here at Days In The Park:
As for us, we're just going to try and do what we do best, and that's have a good time.
We plan on introducing a couple of new segments this week, and our Wordless Wednesday will be back, along with a brand new KILT (Karacters I Love Thursday).
We're also continuing to look at ways to introduce audio and video into the website and we can't wait to get that out to you guys. As soon as we know something, you will!
In addition, two weeks from today (January 23rd) we are co-hosting a "tweet-up" at The Park with two of the sites we partner with, FindingMickey.com and ohatdl.com (Overheard at Disneyland). We'd love for any of our readers (or theirs) who can to come out that afternoon so we can meet you! You guys are why we do this, and it's a way in which we'd love to be able to show our appreciation for you. We'll get back to you next week hopefully with a particular time, but in the meantime we'll include some information here where you can RSVP, or, you can find out more information at the top of our website (or on FindingMickey or Overheard at Disneyland) in the "Coming Tweet-Ups" section. We hope to see you guys out in The Park!
For all who come to this happy place... keep coming!
