Odds and Ends: Weekly Cap-Off (1/10 - 1/16)

Visits to the Park this week:  0
No visits this week, but that's okay.  For even the hardiest of Annual Passholders, there are bound to be some weeks like that.

We'll just have to make up for it in the near future.  We have at least two planned for this week.  That ought to do it.

Last Week on Days In The Park:
On Monday we talked about our excitement at the coming changes in Disney California Adventure, even though our letters are now gone

Tuesday, we took you on another Vinylmation Adventure

For our "Almost" Wordless Wednesday, we watched Nicholas prepare for battle against the dastardly Monstro on the Storybook Land Canal Boats

We added another KILT (Karacters I Love Thursday) character, Pocahontas, on Thursday

Friday, we told you why Walt's original is our favorite out of all of the Disney Parks

And finally on Saturday we took you inside one of our favorite places in The Parks to hang out, the Disney Animation Building

At the Resort:
Few noteworthy items from The Parks this week:

As we noted last week, on weekends between January 14 and March 6, The Park will be hosting what it has dubbed "Family Fun Weekends"; five new and unique experiences meant to draw families into The Park.  The first of those kicked off this weekend with "Fiesta Disneyland", a weekend long celebration of Hispanic heritage and featuring performing groups such as Mariachi Divas.  Next weekend's is "Disney's Kickin' Country Weekend" featuring live music and a Disney hoedown!  All events are currently being held at the Festival Arena near Big Thunder Ranch BBQ in Frontierland.  For more information on these and future weekends, check out the Disney Parks Blog

Secondly, due to construction inside Disney California Adventure, the popular "PIXAR Play Parade" has been canceled until a later time.  Fortunately, The Park has a backup plan in place.  Starting yesterday in the Hollywood Backlot, you can now see, and participate, in "PIXAR Pals".  The first was rolled out yesterday and was called "The Incredibles:  Heroes In Training Squad".  It was a child-participation show, much like the "Jedi Training Academy" in Tomorrowland teaching kids how to be a hero.  Sounds like it was a lot of fun!

You can read more about both over at our friend Motherhood Magic's blog.  She got some awesome pictures from both events over the weekend.

Last week we told you about the "Character Fan Days" weekend coming soon, where The Park offered us a chance to "vote" on which characters we wanted to see out and about The Parks.  The results are in, and although we don't like all of them (there were far too many "regulars" voted in) we were ecstatic to see Esmerelda and Clopin (from The Hunchback of Notre Dame) voted in.  Now if we can just get to The Park that weekend for some photos!  For all of the results, you can check out this article over on the Disney Parks Blog.

Lastly, Vinylmation lovers, rejoice!  The Star Wars Series Vinylmation was released this week and from all accounts was a huge event at Walt Disney World.  With this line, Disney has now found new ways to garner our money by creating a "Super Chaser" for its Vinylmation series.  The Star Wars "SC" is a Ghost Obi-Wan Kenobi.  Very cool.  No word yet if this will become a normal part of the deal, but we're frightened of it, truly frightened.  You can check those chasers out here (and the rest of the Star Wars line) on Vinylnation.net.  Only slightly less interesting is that the Animation Series is now available at the Disneyland Resort.  Chad can't wait to start buying.  With the Villains series also coming out this month, we may begin regular V(inylmation)A(nonymous) meetings.  Stay tuned.

Here at Days In The Park:
As for us, we do plan on making a couple of trips out to The Park this week.

Chad needs to go out on Monday to drop off a Mickey Holiday Popcorn Bucket for a friend, and it's only one week(!), January 23rd, until we co-host our "tweet-up" with the DRLNetwork family at The Park with two of the sites we partner with, FindingMickey.com and ohatdl.com (Overheard at Disneyland).  You can find out all the details of the tweet-up here.  So please, if you want to come, or even think you might like to, give it a look see and RSVP so we can try and figure out how many we might be able to expect.  You can also RSVP via our "Coming Tweet-Ups!" page at the top of our website.

We'd love for any of our readers (or their's) who can to come out that afternoon so we can meet you!  You guys are why we do this, and it's a way in which we'd love to be able to show our appreciation for you.  We hope to see you guys in The Park!

Permanecer sentados por favor, it's gonna be a fun but bumpy ride (like that Matterhorn last Sunday evening...)
