I was blessed enough around 14 years ago to have met my wife; I living in Alabama and she in California. Not bearing a lot of luggage living there (both metaphorically and literally) when we decided to pursue our relationship, I decided it in our best interests for me to move to California to be with her.
One of the first things I noticed about being in Cali was, of course, the vast array of activities and things to do. Living in such proximity to Los Angeles just amplified it.
I've mentioned before that even back then, I knew how close I lived to Disneyland and the beginning of the whole "Disney phenomenon". Growing up (yes, even in Podunk, Alabama), I had always enjoyed Disney. I watched the movies, cartoons, The Disney Channel, and all the rest. I bought the toys, enjoyed the characters, and pined for a vacation at Walt Disney World like most of the rest of the world. And yet, for the longest time, living so close to The Park didn't translate into going to The Park. In fact, when given my first opportunity to go to a theme park in Anaheim, I remember choosing to go to Knott's instead (D'OH!).
My first trip into Walt's original theme park came fairly soon after my wife and I started having children. And of course, I quickly fell in love with the place. My children soon followed. And many trials and travails later, we made the relationship official by becoming Annual Passholders so we could go whenever we wanted.
This blog is born of that enjoyment.
I certainly enjoy going to The Park with my family. But the truth is, I don't always go with them. Fairly often, when the day is getting longer in the tooth, I get the itch to go out there, and more often than not it's with Mark.
I've been writing on my blog for a while now about Disneyland-ish things, but when Mark approached me with the idea of doing his own blog, and me participating, it just seemed a natural fit to just do one together. The rest, as they say, will hopefully be history.
Don't be prepared for new ground-breaking information or views of Disneyland. We can't promise earth-shattering revelations or mind-blowing/altering perceptions. But what we can promise is a unique view on whatever tickles our fancy. Our in-Park shenanigans, if you will. One day I might even write about that Haunted Mansion FastPass ticket-taker who refused to let me in a scant 30-seconds prior to my ticket time. I still get irritated with her!
Between the two of us, and with some wifely participation (or whoever the heck we can shanghai into this), I think what we can offer is a unique viewpoint of things we enjoy there, information, and maybe a surprise or two.
We hope you'll stick around long enough to find out.
